Today, February 12th. The International Conference "Religion and Public Life" was held in Tbilisi, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The conference was attended by the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Chairperson of the Parliament, the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, the Holy Synod and the clergy of the Georgian Church as well as the executive and legislative authorities and foreign guests.
The conference was attended by Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Issues and the delegation, the conference was attended by representatives of various religious confessions and officials, including Georgian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholic, Evangelical-Baptist, Evangelical-Protestant, Evangelical-Lutheran Churches and Ezdi Community.
At the conference, was underlined the importance of restoration of the autocephaly of the Church and the Patriarch Ilia II's special role to preserving and strengthening the historical tradition of our tolerance, as well as the issues of religion and public relations.
